About Luke and Emily:
The Knowles are a new missionary family ministering in Papua New Guinea, having arrived there in December 2022. The family consists of Luke and Emily, and their young daughter Hope. The Knowles fellowshipped at Faith City Church for a few years while Luke studies at Dalhousie University. During that time he also worked with the youth ministry at the church.
Emily and Luke are serving with iCare4U, an NGO that supports and empowers women, children and families living with the impact of HIV, to find value in themselves while building acceptance within their communities. Since arriving, the family has been getting to know and bond with the team there. They have settled well in their new home, and have been welcomed by the local staff and volunteers. Luke has been tasked with the role of overseeing and managing the property as well as taking the lead in coordinating short-term missions teams. Emily is doing most of the administrative work and online role with iCare4U. She will also be supporting women and joining Women’s Hope group, which is a placeholder for a live-in program. The organization is still growing, therefore they expect that they will be doing a little of everything.
One highlight for them as soon as they arrived in Papua was that the organization had just taken in an abandoned seven-month-old baby boy who they are helping take care of, together with the other staff.
Please pray for the Knowles, that they may continue to grow and develop their team in Papua. Their desire is for God to help them invest in an already established culture of love, acceptance, and teamwork. Pray also for the planned Women’s Live In Program, that it may come to fruition, and impact many people that need it.
